Chickoo
Description
Chickoo, also known as Sapodilla or Sapota, has naturally high sweetness and dense flesh. It is widely grown in India and consumed as a regular table fruit due to its filling nature and energy-giving qualities. The fruit has a thin brown skin and soft, brownish pulp that develops a rich, malty flavour as it ripens. When fully ripe, the flesh becomes smooth, juicy, and free from astringency.
Chickoo is best enjoyed fresh and when the fruit gives in slightly to pressure. It is also used in milkshakes, smoothies, ice creams and desserts as it's easy to blend it and give your food a pop of flavour without added sugar. Chickoo keeps you full for long hours.
The fruit is naturally rich in carbohydrates and dietary fibre, which makes it suitable for providing quick energy and supporting digestion. Its dense texture makes it more satiating compared to many other fruits. Easy to consume and versatile in use, Chickoo remains a practical choice for daily diets, combining flavour, nourishment, and convenience in a single fruit.
