How to find allergen information for the products we sell, and what to do if you have a food allergy or intolerance.

Always check the label. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, read the ingredients and allergen information on the product packaging before eating or using any product. The label on the pack is the most accurate and up-to-date source of information.
About our products
Grofie sells authentic South Asian groceries and everyday essentials. Most of our food products are prepacked and sealed by the manufacturer, and we store and pack orders at our warehouse in Swindon.
Where available, we show ingredients and allergen information on product pages. Manufacturers can change recipes and packaging at any time, so the information on the pack you receive always takes priority over the information on our website.
The 14 major allergens
UK food law requires these 14 allergens to be clearly identified on food labels, usually in bold in the ingredients list:
- Celery
- Cereals containing gluten (such as wheat, rye, barley and oats)
- Crustaceans (such as prawns, crabs and lobsters)
- Eggs
- Fish
- Lupin
- Milk
- Molluscs (such as mussels and oysters)
- Mustard
- Tree nuts (such as almonds, cashews, pistachios and walnuts)
- Peanuts
- Sesame
- Soya
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites (above 10mg per kg or litre)
Imported and speciality products
Many of our products are imported. Food sold in the UK must carry ingredient and allergen information in English. Some spices, flours, snacks and sweets are made in factories that also handle nuts, peanuts, sesame, mustard, milk or gluten, so they may carry a "may contain" warning.
If a product does not show a clear allergen statement, please contact us before you buy it.
Cross-contamination
Our warehouse stores a wide range of products, including foods that contain all 14 major allergens. Although products stay sealed in their original packaging, we cannot guarantee that any product is completely free from allergens.

- When your order arrives, check each label again before use.
If you have a reaction
If you think you are having an allergic reaction, get medical help straight away — call 999 in an emergency or 111 for urgent advice. Then please let us know which product was involved so we can look into it.

Product recalls
If a product we sell is recalled because of an allergen problem, we will remove it from sale. The Food Standards Agency publishes allergy alerts and product recalls at food.gov.uk.
